I am now 24. My birthday consisted of an army band camp rehearsal. Not as fun as you'd think. However, my sister gave me a leather-bound edition of the complete Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy, containing not only the five books, but also a short-story which I didn't know existed. YAAAY! I bought myself sheet music and Nero Wolfe on DVD as birthday gifts, and my dad gave me a pewter goblet and a walking stick - I imagine for the day I drink while walking with a limp.

I have since then withdrawn my enlistment for the army band s I was bored and unfulfilled with them, and have been asked to play with Waratah Brass - Newcastle again. I accepted their request, because they offered me the principal E-flat tuba position, making me basically the principal tuba player of one of the top 3 bands in the country. YAAY!!!

Still working towards my AMusA, and have now gotten all the music for it (I had trouble getting an orchestral excerpt, but all's good now)

My mate Josh just won the Associate Principal Trombone position in the Queensland Orchestra, so if any of my Brisbane buddies go to a concert and meet him (lol), tell him you're Rowan's friend and he'll go "wow. big whoop" or something XD

Anywa, I shall post more soon, complete with my more amusing observations about the world, as I need to go to bed and get up early tomorrow to teach in Sydney.

* I'm practicing for my AMusA (Associate Diploma of Music of Australia - performance)
* I'm now on facebook! w00t! Everybody wins
* Have been trying to join the Army Reserve Band in Newcastle, but am now having second thoughts

So I went to Melbourne on Sunday. It was quite exciting. It seems so weird to me that it only takes an hour and 20 minutes to go from Newcastle by plane.

So I got there and my dad 'n' I caught a bus and train and got to his Aunt Vera's house, where we unloaded our luggage and my instruments and went to a club for lunch. I then had a rehearsal with my pianist for the next day, followed by sleep and the next day I went to the audition. while I was waiting, Red Symonds walked past me and looked at me funny. I concluded it was his brush with fame for the day XD

I ended up not making it to the 2nd round, but I was quite happy with how I played so while I was disappointed, I wasn't crushed. Next I get to go to Brisbane this Sunday. JOY!

I can't think of much else to say :( I got my new phone which is great and I get to work tomorrow which is less great.

I KNOW I haven't updated in a while but I just haven't had anythng to write about really.

HOWEVER, here's one thing that happened just today - well last night actually: After I got home last night some dickhead hobo broke into my car and stole my mobile phone. So, I'm going to have to get all you guys' mobile numbers again, so I can input them into my new phone when it arrives mid-next week.

I will also do a MUCH BIGGER entry maybe tomorrow, but I don't have time right now. Here's a quickie though: I'm off to Melbourne on Sunday, because I'm auditioning for Melbourne Symphony on Monday and Tuesday.

Well, by popular demand I am doing a more in-depth entry, since SOMEONE gets the shits with my occasional short entries. So here goes:

Not much has happened since my last major entry. The musical director of my brass band has resigned, so we're on the lookout for a new one. We're going to go to the St Marys Band Club (in St. Marys XD) on sunday to compete in the Ern Keller Band competition, which is apparently a big deal, but I've never been a big competitor just for the winning. I always prefer working towards the competition and trying hard, but winning isn't at the top.

I bought tickets to go and see Dylan Moran on 2nd May!! It;s going to be awesome!!!

I'm a bit tired now, so I'm going to bed and will do more updating tomorrow

I realised today that I haven't updated my LJ in nearly 2 months. The sad thing is that I haven't got much to report.

All that's happened that's of interest is that I've been accepted for honours, and that I've got an audition in Melbourne in march. I'm auditioning for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, which will be AWESOME if I get in. Because it means I'll get lots of money

that's about it. I can't think of anything else for the moment

I misplaced my phone 2 weeks ago at band, and got it back last week. It was nuts. I had filled out an insurance thingo to get a new phone and six hours after that was all done, I got my phone back by a guy in band who said to me "Is this yours?" and I was all "¬_¬# you could've given this to me the other day! BASTARD!!" and then said thank you and called the insurance people the next day and cancelled the claim.

I've done most of my Xmas shopping now, including stuff for my family and friends. That's all the details you guys get.

I bought Farscape season one the other day. I'm now reliving my youth again by watching the bad start of a good Australian sci-fi show.

My sister's HSC results are out today, but she won't check them until tomorrow because she wants to get her UAI at the same time. I was all "Geez, just check 'em now" but she wouldn't.

Band camp has finished. the senior camp was the most fun of the three. Hopefully I'll get more work out of it. Time will tell.

It's been ages since I posted. So here's an update YAY!

I have a new phone! I am now the owner of a Sony Ericsson K800i. It's cool. It's pretty much a camera that can recieve and make phone calls XD

I've applied for Honours next year, and I should get in, considering my grades. However, my teacher is moving to Melbourne next year, so I have asked Steve Rosse in Sydney if he'd could be my teacher next year. He told me he'd loom into it, seeing as how he's always very busy. Brendon, my current teacher, asked me if I wanted to do Honours at Melbourne uni next year, which was tempting but I can't afford to move to Melbourne. Not yet anyway. Maybe for Masters.

I took in an order for some music to the cpon library today. It adds up to about US$800 or so. That's why the con library will be buying it, not me XD

I had my Sinfonia audition in Sydney on monday, which didn't go too well, but I went to Kino and bought manga, which made me feel better. Also, the Morning Glory shop in Galleries Victoria has now closed. This is a good thing, because the only good thing about the shop when it was open was the whole double-entendre name. heh heh heh >_<

I downloaded seasons 1 and 2 of Drawn Together which, while very funny, I think is better if watched with a group of people.

I have a band camp starting this weekend, which'll be cool, because I'll be making SHITELOADS of money from it. I want more teaching :'(

I ordered $270 worth of anime DVDs from madman in their $10 per disc sale. I'm still waiting for the status to go from "Processing" to anything else ¬_¬#

I think that's about it.

It's been a while since I updated, so I'm a going to update now-ish:

My sister has finished year 12, so go her!! She also has a jawb at Dan Murphy's now, but hasn't had a shift the same time as me yet. However she has one on thursday with me heh heh heh!!

I'm off to a wedding this weekend for Hard Core Pete. Haven't decided what to get them as a pressie, but I have a couple of days to decide.

I took advantage of the madman sale, and at about 5am I finally finished my order: Ah! My Goddess Vol. 1-4 (+box), Chrono Crusade V5-7, King of Bandit Jing V4, RahXephon Box and movie, Fruits Basket, Angelic Layer Box. My credit card still stings a bit, but it was worth it.

I'm doing a band camp in december that's paying me about $1000 for some piss easy work, so I was floating around for a bit yesterday whgen they offerred it to me.

That's about it for now. I gtg and help my daddeh clean the carport.

Stolen from Queenie, who is vertically opposite from me ^_^

Brilliant! You are a Wizard!

Wizards are spells-casters who study powerful arcane magic. While Wizards tend to be pretty fragile, some of those spells can pack quite a punch. Unlike Clerics, Wizards aren’t as good at fixing people as they are at breaking them, so watch where you toss that fireball…

Your most distinctive trait is your intelligence. You're probably well learned and logical, if perhaps a bit fragile.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
